The main purpose of the education program is to improve the communicative competence of teachers of the Karelian language, as well as the ability to apply the acquired knowledge in accordance with the professional context.
The courses are taught by Evgeny Karakin, Senior Lecturer at the Department of Baltic-Finnish Philology at the Institute of Philology of Petrozavodsk State University. The program was developed with the participation of specialists of the Karelian Institute of Education Development.
The students of the courses are teachers from the Kalevala National, Kemsky districts, Kostomuksha and Petrozavodsk.
“The group has different levels of learning, someone is just starting to work, someone has been working with the Karelian language for a long time. It is good that everyone shares their best practices,” notes Evgeny Karakin.
In addition to language classes, participants of the courses get acquainted with the electronic collection of textbooks in Karelian, improve the skills of working with a laptop with preschool children, share the best practices of using folklore in kindergarten and at school.
