In the reading room of the Scientific Library of Petrozavodsk State University, a solemn ceremony of awarding the winners of the online contest "Reading the runes of the Kalevala epic", dedicated to the Year of Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia in the Russian Federation, took place.

The results of the online competition "Reading the runes of the Kalevala epic" for students of universities, colleges, students of secondary schools from the age of 12 and residents of the Republic of Karelia, students of secondary schools and vocational educational institutions in Finland have been summed up.

The online competition was organized by the Department of Baltic-Finnish Philology of the Institute of Philology of PetrSU, the PetrSU Scientific Library, and the Primary Trade Union Organization of PetrSU Students. The partner of the online competition is the Ministry of National and Regional Policy of the Republic of Karelia.

The competition was held in three categories:
Runes in the Karelian language (Livvik dialect, proper Karelian dialect).
Runes in the Veps language.
Runes in Finnish.

Contest winners:

NOMINATION "Runes in the Karelian language (Livvik dialect, proper Karelian dialect)":

Age group - from 12 to 15 years old
1st place − Efimova Sofya, student of 6 "B" class of MKOU "Ilyinskaya secondary school",
2nd place - Rossiev Artyom, student 5 "B" class MKOU "Ilyinskaya secondary school",
3rd place - Vakhrameeva Claudia, Koshkarova Liza, Yakusheva Nastya, students of the 7th "B" class of the secondary general education Finno-Ugric school named after. Elias Lonnrot.

Age group - from 16 to 23 years old
1st place - Grafova Valeria, 3rd year student of the Institute of Philology of PetrSU,
2nd place - Anna Rogova, 4th year student of the Institute of Philology of PetrSU,
3rd place - Alena Novosyolova, 3rd year student of the Institute of Philology of PetrSU.

Age group - 24 years and older
1st place - Value Nadezhda, Nikolaeva Svetlana, Rybakova Raisa, village Yushkozero,
2nd place - Muntieva Tamara Vasilievna, educator of MKDOU "Golden Key", Kostomuksha,
3rd place - Vorobyov Lev Petrovich, Knyazev Sergey Vladimirovich, members of the public organization "Native Hearth", p. Veshkelitsa.

NOMINATION "Runes in the Vepsian language":

Age group - from 12 to 15 years old
1st place - Danil Fateev, 6th grade student of the Sheltozerskaya secondary school,
2nd place - Momotov Maxim, student of the 7th "B" class of the secondary general education Finno-Ugric school named after. Elias Lonnrot.

Age group - from 16 to 23 years old
1st place - Sokolova Marina, 1st year student of the GAPOU RK "College of Technology and Entrepreneurship",
2nd place - Kristina Seledkova, 2nd year student of the Institute of Philology of PetrSU,
3rd place - Karpova Milana, 1st year student of GAPOU RK "College of Technology and Entrepreneurship".

NOMINATION "Runes in Finnish":

Age group - from 12 to 15 years old
1st place - Mikhailova Lilia, student of 6 "B" class of MOU "School No. 34".

Age group - from 16 to 23 years old
1st place - Valeria Kopytaenko, 2nd year student of the Institute of Philology of PetrSU,
2nd place - Yulia Petyaksheva, 3rd year student of the Institute of Philology of PetrSU,
3rd place - Alla Burova, 2nd year student of the State Educational Institution of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan "College of Technology and Entrepreneurship".

Age group - 24 years and older
1st place - Kornilova Tatyana Viktorovna, teacher of mathematics at the State Educational Institution of Education and Science of the Republic of Kazakhstan "College of Technology and Entrepreneurship".

Special Prize of the Department of Baltic-Finnish Philology of the Institute of Philology of PetrSU:
Olivia Hanttu, student at Kulosaari High School, group 20d, Finland.

Special Prize of the Scientific Library of PetrSU:
Runtova Anastasia Nikolaevna, employee of the Scientific Library of the Tver State University.

The staff of the Scientific Library organized a thematic exhibition of books.
