The explanatory dictionary of the Khakass language has been recognized at a high level.

On the eve of National Unity Day, the laureates of the All–Russian Public Award for personal contribution to the ethnocultural development and strengthening of the unity of the peoples of Russia “PRIDE OF THE NATION – 2024” were awarded in the building of the State Academic Maly Theater.

The high award was awarded to the long-term cooperation of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Khakassia, leading specialists of the State Budgetary Research Institution of the Republic of Khakassia “Khakass Scientific Research Institute of Language, Literature and History”, the State Budgetary Institution of the Republic of Khakassia “V.M. Torosov Khakass Book Publishing House”.

By order of the Government of the Republic of Khakassia, work has been underway since 2006 to create an explanatory dictionary of the Khakassia language. Thus, the presentation of the first volume took place in 2021, and the second volume was published in 2023. A total of 2,300 copies of the dictionary have been published, they are in educational institutions and libraries of the republic. Irina Chebochakova, the lead author of the Explanatory Dictionary of the Khakassia Language, Deputy Chairman of the Terminological Commission under the Government of the Republic of Khakassia, was awarded the All–Russian Public Prize for her personal contribution to the ethnocultural development and strengthening the unity of the peoples of Russia in the nomination “For contribution to the preservation and development of native languages”.

The two-volume work of linguists of the language sector of the State Budgetary Scientific Research Institution of the Republic of Khakassia “Khakass Scientific Research Institute of Language, Literature and History” “Explanatory Dictionary of the Khakass language” is the first explanatory dictionary in the history of Khakass linguistics and the people. It contains more than 12,000 dictionary entries written in the Khakass literary language.

Traditionally, the Prize is awarded in seven nominations for its contribution to the preservation and development of native languages and to ensuring civic unity. The creation of an Explanatory dictionary of the Khakass language is very important from the point of view of studying and developing the native language, it contributes to the preservation of ethnocultural and historical vocabulary. Funds for the creation of the dictionary were allocated from the republican budget, which is more than 2.5 million rubles, according to the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Khakassia.
