Section “Baltic-Finnish philology”
The Department of Baltic-Finnish Philology hosted a meeting of the section “Baltic-Finnish Philology” of the 75th All-Russian (with international participation) scientific conference of students and young scientists.
Students and graduate students of the department presented their reports on a variety of topics: on Finnish-language literature, grammar and vocabulary of the Karelian and Finnish languages, on the topic of translating works into Finnish and Karelian, on ethnography and dialectology.
At the end of the meeting, the winner and prize-winners of the conference were awarded, at which the results were summed up, diplomas and gifts were presented. The jury recommended two reports for publication in the collection of materials of the best reports. In addition, the jury noted reports of scientific interest that were recommended for publication in other scientific journals.
Results of the section meeting:
A 1st degree diploma was received by Veronika Suskina, a 3rd year student, with a report in Finnish on the topic “National culinary traditions of the Finns in the modern global era (using the example of the periodical magazine “Anna”) (scientific supervisor: Kazakova Maria Vladimirovna).
The 2nd degree diploma was awarded to 3rd year student Polina Vakulina with the topic of her report in Finnish “Anglicisms in blogs about everyday life” (supervisor: Nazarova Anna Nikolaevna) and 4th year student Angelina Dorozhko with the topic “Poetics of magical realism in T. Meshko’s novel “The Sorcerer” here” (supervisor: Maria Vladimirovna Kazakova).
III degree diplomas were received by 3rd year student Liliya Gagarina, with a report in Finnish “The female theme in Mia Kankimaki’s novel “Women I Think About at Night” (supervisor: Maria Vladimirovna Kazakova) and 4th year student Valeria Grafova with a report in Karelian topic “Formation and use of third infinitive forms in the collection of works by T.V. Shcherbakova “Armahile bunukoile”” (scientific supervisor: Tatyana Vladimirovna Pashkova).
The Audience Award was awarded to Marina Vysotskaya, a 2nd year student, who read a report on the topic “Features of translating E. Uspensky’s story “Uncle Fyodor, the Dog and the Cat” into Karelian.”
