Online event dedicated to the Day of the Native Language: «Proverbs – Folk Wisdom»

In anticipation of the celebration of the International Day of the Native Language, the House of Friendship of the Leningrad Region, with the support of the Resource Information Center of the Northwestern Federal District and the regional branch of the Assembly of Peoples of Russia, held an online event on its pages on social networks VKontakte and Telegram called “Proverbs – Folk Wisdom”. The goal of the event was to activate interest among young people in the native languages of the peoples of Russia. According to the conditions of the event, anyone could participate by recording a video with their favorite proverbs, sayings, winged expressions, and aphorisms about friendship, family, homeland in their native language, with a translation into Russian. 42 videos were submitted, and participants from the Leningrad Region, St. Petersburg, the Republic of Mari El, the Republic of Belarus took part in the event. The participants of the event remembered proverbs in Russian, Izhorian, Chuvash, Tatar, Bashkir, Mari, Ukrainian, Belarusian, Komi, and Karelian languages.
