Ilya Serotetto from Nadym gained the lead for the best author’s project in the field of folklore and languages of the indigenous peoples of the North

According to the results of the regional competition among young people, Ilya Serotetto from Nadym gained the lead for the best author’s project in the field of folklore and languages of the indigenous peoples of the North.

This year, Ilya launched a recording studio «Сё’ мэти’’ мя’’» (“House of Singing Voices”). Twenty authentic folklore compositions have already been recorded. Fifteen of them were collected in the places of residence of folklore carriers in Yamalsky district and the cities of Salekhard and Nadym. Ancient Nenets songs were performed by 10 native Nenets speakers.

The “House of Singing Voices” project is being implemented in Nadym at the expense of grant funds from Rosmolodezh and the Yamal Youth Initiatives Project Office. As a result of the competition, Ilya Serotetto received an award of 50,000 rubles.

The competition is devoted to the International Decade of Indigenous Languages and the Year of the Cultural Heritage of the Peoples of Russia.
