II International Scientific and Practical Conference «The experience of preserving and developing traditional culture in the modern world. Folk arts and crafts»

October 30-31, 2023 the Institute of Language, Literature and Art. G. Ibragimov Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan held the II International Scientific and Practical Conference «Experience in the preservation and development of traditional culture in the modern world. Folk arts and crafts”, it was dedicated to the Year of National Cultures and Traditions in Tatarstan.

The Conference was attended by scientists from Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Izhevsk, Yoshkar-Ola, Saransk, Cheboksary, Chistopol, Ufa, Yaroslavl, representatives of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan, scientific and educational institutions of the republic, the media, etc.

The program included presentations on the following issues of the current state of development of folk arts and crafts in different regions of Russia and abroad: current problems of research into traditional artistic culture, problems of preserving and developing ethnoculture in modern conditions, updating samples of folk arts and crafts in the museum space, problems and achievements in ethno-art education.

Within the framework of the Conference, the exhibition «Traditional culture of the peoples of the Volga and Urals in the modern world” (costume complexes and products of folk arts and crafts) was opened, master classes on weaving and embroidery were organized, publications of the Institute of Language, Literature and Art named after. G. Ibragimov of the Academy of Sciences of the Republic of Tatarstan.

This collaborative platform was established to enable the community of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022–2032) to share events, activities, and resources. The content published on the platform is the responsibility of registered users and does not commit the Secretariat of the Decade (UNESCO) and/or the Members of the Global Task Force for Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages. Please note that the platform has been inactive since February 2025 and no longer accepts new uploads. While work is underway to provide an updated solution, the Secretariat of IDIL 2022–2032 remains available for any inquiries at: indigenous.languages@unesco.org.
