Day of Ossetian Culture in the International Library

At the end of July, the Sverdlovsk Regional Interethnic Library, with the support of the Ministry of Culture of the Sverdlovsk Region, held a Day of Ossetian Culture dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the formation of the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania.

Strong wind and incessant rain did not prevent cultural figures and readers of our library from gathering for this sunny, joyful and very informative event. Music, poems, songs, amazing views on the screens, everything was transferred to the atmosphere of distant mountains, and made you forget about the bad weather. And in the library they were warmly welcomed by the host of the holiday, deputy director of the library Evgeny Sergeyevich Kolosov.

Pavel Evgenievich Suslonov, consultant of the Department of Ethno-confessional Relations and organization of work on the prevention of extremism of the Department of Internal Policy of the region, PhD, welcomed the audience and expressed gratitude to the Ossetian community for their constant readiness to cooperate and solve common tasks to unite our peoples.

Kazbek Mayramovich Doev, Representative of the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania in the Ural Federal District, also thanked those present and dwelled in detail on the heroic past and present of the Ossetian people.

Liana Pavlovna Gagloite, Chairman of the Sverdlovsk regional public organization “Society of Ossetian Culture named after Aslan Gireya Galati, PhD in Philology, Honored Worker of Culture of the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania and Honored Artist of the Republic of South Ossetia, expressed great satisfaction with the mutual understanding and cooperation with various cultural organizations of the Sverdlovsk region. It turns out that it is here in Yekaterinburg that not only restore, but also recreate ancient Ossetian musical instruments. And already these days, the most famous musical groups from Ossetia will perform in Yekaterinburg.

Olga Ivanovna Kalinina, Director of the Sverdlovsk Regional Interethnic Library, Honorary Worker of General Education of the Russian Federation, spoke on behalf of the hosts to the audience.

As the speakers emphasized, we are united with the Ossetian community by years, if not decades of cooperation, literature exhibitions and concerts are held in the library, nevertheless, personal meetings make an invaluable contribution to the development of our contacts.

But it’s time to let the artists themselves speak out – musicians, artists, researchers. The real highlight of the holiday was the demonstration of the historical and journalistic film “Stages of the Great Journey”, which tells about North Ossetia as a historically inseparable part of the Russian Federation, a region with a rich cultural, socio-political and socio-economic heritage with deep comprehensive ties with other regions.

At the end of the holiday, the staff of the Sverdlovsk Regional Interethnic Library thanked the Sverdlovsk regional public organization “Society of Ossetian Culture named after Aslan-Gireya Galati” and the Cultural and Patriotic Foundation “Center “Co-action” for their invaluable assistance in the preparation and holding of the Day of Ossetian Culture.
