Conference and seminar on cultural heritage of indigenous peoples of Paraguay
On 26 October from 8:30 to 19:00 and 27 October from 7:00 to 12: 30, a Conference and a Seminar as part of the Project for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of the indigenous peoples Ishir Ybytoso (Zamuco), Paĩ Tavyterã and Aché (Tupí-Guaraní), Enxet Sur, Sanapaná and Angaité (Maskoy) will take place at the Site of Memory and Cultural Centre 1A Ycuá Bolaños, in Asunción (Paraguay). The event is organized by the National Directorate of Cultural Diversity, Rights and Processes of the National Secretariat of Culture (SNC) and with the support of UNESCO.
The aim of this event is to highlight the cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples involved in the project, with the participation of speakers from the State and bearers of the cultural manifestations of the indigenous communities.
During the two days, representatives of the Paĩ Tavyterã (Tupi-Guarani), Ishir (Zamuco), Angaité (Maskoy) peoples, women representatives and bearers of Intangible Cultural Heritage, as well as representatives of the National Secretariat of Culture, the Centre for Anthropological Studies of the Catholic University of Asunción, the Higher Institute of Fine Arts, the Library and Central Archive of the National Congress of Asunción, as well as non-governmental organisations will participate to exchange knowledge and experiences, and give presentations.
The conference will also include a screening of intercultural cinema.
The project will be implemented in the following departments: Alto Paraguay, Presidente Hayes, Canindeyú, Caaguazú, Alto Paraná, Caazapá, Amambay, Concepción and by the end of the current year, it is planned to publish a material recounting the research, processes and declarations of cultural heritage of the indigenous peoples that were part of the project.
