International Book Giving Day in The House of the Peoples of Russia
On the International Book Giving Day, the House of the Peoples of Russia hosted an event initiated as part of the equipping of its themed Library dedicated to all the diversity of peoples living in Russia and their cultures.
The event brought together authors of books, representatives of publishing houses and libraries, leaders of the Federal National Cultural Autonomies of Russia and public associations of the peoples of Russia (the Koreans, Greeks, Belarusians, Azerbaijanis, Tatars, Armenians, Bashkirs, Lezgins, Ukrainians, Kurds, Germans, Serbians, Macedonians, Polish people, Talysh people and peoples of the North ). Participants gave presentations of books about culture and history of their peoples. More than 300 books written in the respective languages as well as in Russian were donated to the library fund of the House of the Peoples of Russia.
Educational project “ПроЧитай” (“AboutRead”)that is held by the House of the Peoples of Russia was also presented at the event. The point of the project is to inform population about the contribution made by internationally renowned classic writers to the Russian literature.
