Discover the richness of the cultural diversity of the peoples of the Russian Federation through the books presented at the exhibition for International Mother Language Day.
You will get acquainted with the folklore of the peoples of our country and learn how their languages sound. Mordovian folk tales, proverbs, signs and sayings, the Bashkir epic “Ural Batyr”, Chuvash folk tales about animals, myths of the peoples of the Volga region, the Tatar folk tale “Sak-Sok” will help you get to know the peoples living in Ryazan and neighboring regions better. Legends, laughs and fun games of the Uilta and Nivkhi peoples, magical folk tales, games and fun of Sakha will tell about the traditions of the indigenous inhabitants of distant Sakhalin and Yakutia.
Folk tales are colorfully illustrated and translated into Russian and English. The books were published between 2015 and 2021 in Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Ufa, Cheboksary, Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk, Yakutsk and are available to Ryazan readers thanks to the sociocultural project of the Gorky Library “The Art of Living Together.”

This collaborative platform was established to enable the community of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages (IDIL 2022–2032) to share events, activities, and resources. The content published on the platform is the responsibility of registered users and does not commit the Secretariat of the Decade (UNESCO) and/or the Members of the Global Task Force for Making a Decade of Action for Indigenous Languages. Please note that the platform has been inactive since February 2025 and no longer accepts new uploads. While work is underway to provide an updated solution, the Secretariat of IDIL 2022–2032 remains available for any inquiries at: indigenous.languages@unesco.org.
