PetrSU Student – “Miss Charm of Finno-Ugria”

The competition was held in Khanty-Mansiysk. Karelia was represented by Maria Savander, a student of the Institute of Philology and a member of the PetrSU folk music ensemble Toive.

“The main thing for me in this project was the interest and admiration that people showed for Karelian culture. For example, many did not know what kalitki were, where our republic was located, what it was like, and much more. I also learned more about other Finno-Ugric peoples. This exchange of knowledge and impressions about the Finno-Ugric culture was invaluable for me,

– the student shared her impressions.

Maria told how pleasant it was to realize that her participation in the event was successful:

“During these difficult days, I was especially supported by my family, friends, and the university. Thanks to such large-scale support, it was easier for me to overcome all the competition challenges.

Regarding the New Year mood, Maria noted:

“I am spending the outgoing year in a bright mood, because for me it was filled with many interesting events, trips and warm acquaintances. I expect that my 2025 will be no less full of bright emotions and impressions, and I also want my loved ones to be healthy and happy.

I would like to wish the students, teachers and staff of PetrSU productive work, new achievements in various fields, creative success and a warm atmosphere in the team in the new year.
