The International Mother Language Day

Within the framework of the celebration of the International Mother Language Day and in order to popularize, preserve and study mother tongues, the following events were held:

From 19 to 24 of February, the online poetry action “Live, native language!” All educational organizations of the republic took an active part in the campaign. The total coverage was more than five thousand people; the republican annual recitation competition among students, which was held in the National Scientific Library of the Republic of North Ossetia-Alania. Each participant sang two poems, one of which was in the Ossetian language. The total number of participants was more than 200;

On 20 of February, the event “Уарзын дæ, мæ мадæлон æвзаг” was held at the school in the village of Mostizdakh. The participants of the event recited works of classics of Ossetian literature, played Ossetian musical instruments, presented dramatizations and choreographic numbers. All teachers of Ossetian language and literature attended the event from schools in the district, the Education Department and the school management. It should be noted that there are only 54 pupils in the school and all were involved in the event;

On 20 of February, a theatrical performance “We are Different but Equal” at School No. 2 in Nogir village, Prigorodny Municipal District; a festive event at School No. 1 in Mozdok. The event was of great educational, upbringing and developmental significance;

On 21 of February “Æвзаг – адæмы уд” event took place at school 5 in Beslan. At the event, schools of the Pravoberezhny District presented to the guests the everyday life, culture and traditions of different peoples of the North Caucasus;

On 21 of February film-lecture “Know our people” on the basis of the Mozdok Mechanical-Technological College, dedicated to the talented scientist, linguist, scholar, author of the “Historical and Etymological Dictionary of the Ossetian Language” Vaso Abayev;

On 21 of February, the festive event “Мæ ирон-мадæлон æвзаг” was held at school No. 3 in the village of Elkhotovo. The children performed songs and poems in Russian, Ossetian, Georgian and Armenian languages. The students performed dance numbers and miniatures in the Ossetian language. The holiday ended with beautiful farewell words of the presenters; the festive event based on MBDOU “Kindergarten No. 8” of Beslan. The celebration included songs, dances, national games, mini theatrical skits and poems in different languages.

On 21 of February, an event was held based on MBDOU “Kindergarten № 23 st.Arkhonskaya” together with kindergarten № 18 and № 6. The children played, told poems, performed skits, danced and sang Cossack songs. At the end of the event the pupils came to the conclusion that learning their native language develops respect for their ancestors;

On 21 of February at the State Budgetary Educational Institution School No. 8 in Beslan city. On 21 February, representatives of different nationalities recited poems in their native languages, sang and danced. The festival was rich in participants and rich in content;

The festival “Дун дунейыл балц”, which was held at school No. 1 in Ardon.   The message of the festival “to know, honour and love your native language” is one of the main values of humankind. It became the leitmotif of the whole event.

On 21 of February a meeting with famous craftsmen and masters of arts and crafts “Дæ улæфт, мадæлон æвзаг, мæ царды алы ран дæр ˊнкъарын!” on the basis of the Alanian gymnasium; open lesson “International Mother Language Day” at school 7 in Vladikavkaz; open lesson “International Mother Language Day” at school 7 in Vladikavkaz;

On 21 of February, festival of national cultures “Round Dance of Friendship” at the North Ossetian State Trade and Economic College.  According to the drawing of lots, each group was given one of the nationalities living in Russia. History and language of the people, literary and musical compositions, traditions and customs, national cuisine – in a short time the children managed to acquaint the audience with Armenians, Georgians, Azerbaijanis, Kumyks, Tatars, Russians and representatives of other nationalities;

On 20 of February, the interregional festival of pedagogical ideas “Dialogue of Cultures” was held based on the state budgetary educational institution of additional professional education “North Ossetian Republican Institute for Advanced Training of Education Workers” with the participation of teachers demonstrating the best practices of teaching native language and native literature. Teachers attended the event from neighboring regions, including Adygea, Karachay-Cherkessia, Dagestan, Kabardino-Balkaria, Ingushetia, etc. Nazirjon Abduganiev, member of the Presidium of the Council, Deputy Chairman of the Council, Chairman of the Executive Committee of the Assembly of Peoples of Russia, and teachers of Ossetian language and literature delivered a video address to the guests of the festival.
