An open meeting of the National Organizing Committee for the preparation and holding of the International Decade of Indigenous Languages in 2022-2032 in the Russian Federation was held at the site of the VII Forum "Language Policy in the Russian Federation" under the chairmanship of the Head of the Federal Agency for Ethnic Affairs Igor Barinov.

"In the Commonwealth of Independent States, the Russian language is still important and significant. We see that it remains the language of technology, science, culture, education, and professional activity. I am sure that the mutual exchange of experience will contribute to the harmonious development of the languages of the peoples of the Commonwealth countries and the Russian language," Igor Barinov said.

Within the framework of the organizing committee, the results of the work of the first years of the Decade were summed up, reports of the members of the Organizing Committee were heard on those activities of the plan that have already been carried out, on achievements and problematic issues requiring special attention, and priorities for the near future were outlined.
