Student Conference “Interdisciplinary Approaches to Multilingualism, Language Maintenance, Indigenous Languages” (IFAMSIS)
This student conference is inspired by the IYIL target of creating “favourable conditions for knowledge-sharing and dissemination of good practices with regards to indigenous languages” among aspiring early career researchers at LMU Munich. Its focus is to encourage students to engage with interdisciplinary approaches in the fields of multilingualism, language maintenance, and indigenous languages. Research reports by students and doctoral fellows are complemented by a keynote lecture and a panel discussion with researchers in relevant fields. Although the core parts of the conference are meant for student participants from LMU Munich, the keynote lecture (“Sprachpolitik aus dem Gesichtspunkt eines Ökonomen”, Prof. Dr. Bengt-Arne Wickström) and the panel discussion (Prof. Dr. Stefan Oeter, Prof. Dr. Bengt-Arne Wickström, Dr. Sheena Shah) are open to the public.
The languages of the conference are German and English. External participants are kindly asked to register in advance (ifamsis@finn.fak12.uni-muenchen.de).
This project is hosted by the doctoral students of the Institute of Finno-Ugric Studies. It is funded by Lehre@LMU and sponsored by the German Federal Ministry of Education and Research (BMBF) (grant no 01PL17016). [Any opinions expressed here are those of the author.]
